Hillary Emmer loves working with kids and sharing with them her passion and enthusiasm for singing. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Utah State University where she was endorsed to teach both secondary and elementary music. She is Level I ORFF certified and during her senior year at Utah State, Hillary worked as a student conductor with the Cache Children’s Choir. After graduation she worked as the Choral Director at West Hills Middle School for five years. While there, she built a thriving, superior-rated choir program. While working at West Hills, Hillary was asked to co-conduct the Young Choral Artists (YoCA), the children’s choir branch of the Salt Lake Choral Artists. Hillary is now a counselor at Copper Mountain Middle School, but couldn’t give up teaching choir. While working at West Hills and with YoCA, Hillary saw that there was a great need in opportunities for young singers in South Jordan and its surrounding areas. From here, JYC was born, and she co-founded the group with other members from the community. Hillary continues to sing as well, and has sang with the USU Chamber Artists, in addition to the Salt Lake Choral Artists Women’s, Concert, and Chamber Choirs. Currently, she is singing with the Utah Chamber Artists.
